IDMAA announces 4th Innovative Program Awards nominations as part of its 8th Annual Conference, “The Digital Narrative” in Vancouver B.C. Canada, November 4-6, 2010.
You are invited to submit a nomination – self nominations are again welcome – of a program which you consider to be highly innovative in the Digital Media and Arts field.
Background
One of the many goals of the International Digital Media and Arts Association (iDMAa) is to promote the field and another is to call attention to unusual and outstanding efforts through recognition and awards. Some of these awards are universal and a few are member only. While we do offer recognition to individuals each year, this is our effort to recognize academic programs.
Process
Nominations should describe why the named program is outstanding and innovative and may not exceed four pages. It must include a brief description of the program, the number of students enrolled, and a website we can use for further information. (Due to the nature of this field we know that some programs are embedded within other areas so please be clear in your description and provide full contact information.)
Nominations must be emailed to rsteele@bsu.edu by 5:00 p.m. on October 4.
Judging
A panel of senior judges (from academe and industry) will be assembled by the iDMAa and a review of nominees will be concluded in time to both invite the winner and to announce the award winner at the November 5 conference awards dinner in Vancouver.
Judging Criteria
Judges will be asked to consider the originality of the approach to providing sound education, the potential for positive impact on students, faculty, or other program constituencies, and the potential for promoting positive change in the higher education environment. They will look for examples that demonstrate new modes of learning; that bridge diverse communities and reach across generations of learners and those who teach them; that explore new digital models for learning which enhance collaboration and networked and informal learning styles today; and, that connect students and non-traditional learning sources. Judges will consider an entire program or a special element of a program that has implications for most students in the program.
If you have questions feel free to contact me at rsteele@bsu.edu or 765-285-1889.
We all realize that most recognition efforts are imperfect, but without opportunities to call special efforts to the attention of a broader community we cannot benefit from those special talents which help to make our field and our programs notable. Each winning program will receive an opportunity to showcase its efforts at the next year’s iDMAa conference as part of a plenary session.
Please go to idmaa.org/idmaa2010 and get registered for the conference and get a room at the Granville Island Hotel while special rates apply for IDMAA.
