Deadline to receive proposals: September 12th, 2008

Introduction:

You are invited to submit digital art and design to IDEAS08: Continuum; Digital Media Arts Tomorrow Through Visions of Yesterday and Today. IDEAS is an exhibition of artistic and innovative digital installations, creative mobile media, interactive pieces, web sites, games, digital images, film and video and much more. The IDEAS exhibition coincides with the sixth annual International Digital Media and Arts Association (IDMAA) conference, Ideas for the Future, to be held in Savannah, GA.

IDEAS 08: Continuum embraces the conference theme at its core, but includes how the digital technology of yesterday and today predict the digital world of the future, be it fantasy or real. Thus, we are looking for art that predicts the technological future, celebrates the technological past, or makes commentary on the technological present. The work can either incorporate these digital tools or specifically address them. Our definition of technology is very broad and can include dimensions in medicine, entertainment, biology, communication (cell phones, for example), mobile technologies, everyday living (automatic lights, smart appliances), navigation (GPS), high tech food (food with a forever shelf life), or the perceived antithesis of technology as seen in neo-luddism, spirituality, and nature. Also consider the combination of the so-called anti-technologies in combination with digital tools to argue for or against mutual exclusion. No matter the dimension, we will consider work that addresses the continuum of digital media visualized through art.

IDEAS 08 will display art that will predict and help define the cultural and artistic landscape of tomorrow through work that uses or talks about technology from the past, present, or future. Works may address this directly or indirectly and may include traditional media with the use of digital media.

Please Note: Installation space if very limited this year. We will consider a few small and less complicated installations.
